Play time

She is growing up so fast. Here are a few pictures we took the other day while she was playing. This week she started babbling "dadada." Note the drool dripping off the chin. Yeah, pretty typical.

Sleeping like a Baby

I went to check on Emma during her nap a couple days ago and this is what I found..

It amazes me the positions she falls asleep in nowadays. I was worried that she wasn't getting circulation in her leg so I stuffed it back in the crib. She stayed asleep. In fact, when she did finally wake up, she stuffed her leg through the bars again. Maybe it's time to get a bumper.

My favorite is the binky clutched in her hand. I have to give her two binkies when she goes to sleep. One to suck on and the other to play with.


And here is a picture of bathtime a couple of weeks ago. I think it's her favorite activity. Bert was sure having fun trying to get her hair to stick up.



Oh, and did I mention that it is still snowing today? And that I almost crashed three times on the way to work yesterday in a snowstorm? I think I'm going to ask Bert to move us to St. George or Arizona when he is done with school!

Snow Day

This was taken from our front porch looking down the street. There was so much snow this morning that they canceled church, cars were getting stuck all up and down the street. It's one o'clock and the street hasn't been plowed yet. We pulled two of our neighbors' cars out this morning during the snow storm and got stuck doing it. But they were so happy they came over with their snow blower and helped with our driveway and walk.

Now the really ironic part is today is Super Bowl Sunday, and church was canceled due to the snow storm....hmmm ;)

Good-bye President Hinckley

As I sure everyone has been doing with his recent passing, I've been thinking a lot about President Hinckley and the impact he has had on my life as the Lord's prophet and thought I would share a few things.

One experience comes to mind over and over. While on my mission in Ecuador the Guayaquil temple was dedicated. President Hinckley, President Faust, and Elder Nelson came down for the dedication. I attended the first dedicatory session with my companion and 4 other missionaries. When we were led in the usher told us that the prophet had invited us into the Celestial Room for the dedication. Amazed, we walked into the room where perhaps 100 other people, mostly church authorities, were seated. One of the missionaries with us was from Bolivia. It took a minute to register with her that we would be in the same room with President Hinckley when he dedicated the temple. When she did figure it out, the look of amazement, gratitude, and excitement on her face was one that I will never forget. Being from Bolivia I don't think she ever imagined she would be in the same room as a prophet. It was a reminder to me what a special man President Hinckley, and all the prophets and apostles, really are. And how lucky we are to have a living prophet on the earth, and that so many of us have an opportunity to listen to them in person or through the general conference broadcasts.

I am saddened by his death but comforted to know that he will be with his dear wife again. It was obvious that he has missed her so much. I am also comforted to know that next week a new prophet and president of the church will be called who has been specially prepared to lead the church onto this next phase. I know that President Hinckley was a great man, a prophet of the Lord, and I will forever be grateful for his example and teachings.

New Year, new foods

We haven't done anything all that interesting since our last post. Except go to Washington to visit Bert's family. And I managed to not take a single picture. Oh well. We had a lot of fun and it was good to see everyone.

We did start introducing more foods to Emma. We get mixed reactions that are hysterical. Unfortunately I can't seem to get them on camera, but here is the mess of sweet potatoes that she made. I'm not sure how well she liked it, she kept making funny faces. But she did eat it all!
