Christmas

I'm finally posting pictures from Christmas. Being nine months pregnant at the time, I really was in no state of mind to remember my camera, but I did get a few at home of the girls opening presents.

We had a fun time with the stocking stuffers, in fact, that was about all Kaylie was interested in. Wrapped presents seem to hold no attention.

Emma got a toolbox which she loves.

By far Kaylie's favorite present by far was her little Woody doll and other toys from Toy Story.

Which she nicely shares with Emma.

And Bert's favorite toy, the Kindle Fire.

After presents we had our traditional breakfast of fried scones, went to church then off to Grandma's!

Halloween

 Halloween this year was fun. When asked what she wanted to be, Emma promptly decided on the same costume from last year, a fairy princess. That was easy. Kaylie dressed in a scary costume ;) (a cheerleader for Daddy's favorite team...not Mommy's) and Daddy of course loves Halloween and goes all out.

You just can't get both girls to look at the camera at the same time.

October

Here are some random happening from October

 General Conference. The girls were actually pretty good and I got to see more of it this year than past conferences. And I was glad I did, the talks were amazing. Emma calls it the prophet show, she cracks me up.

 And Kaylie is growing up. Her little imagination is developing and she is always pretending at something. She's busy with her purse, cell phone, mom's shoes and of course a pitcher of something.

What? Is this not how we normally dress to go out?

It's a Boy!

Needless to say, Bert is ecstatic. He was starting to feel a little lonely! We're all excited!

My OB's office apparently has 3-D ultrasound now. Which I think makes babies look a little weird, I mean really, the poor thing is still growing, no fair taking pictures yet! Anyway, I'm posting pictures from both the regular ultrasound and the 3-D.

Kaylie's Birthday

Last week was Kaylie's 2nd birthday. Lucky girl got to celebrate it all week! Last weekend the Adamson grandparents were in town for a baby blessing. We had a get together at Aunt Codi's and stuck some candles in a banana cream pie for Kaylie to blow. Of course she didn't figure out the blowing part and I didn't have my camera (shocker I know).

Monday was her actual birthday so she got to open a present. I didn't get a picture of the actual present, it was a collapsible crib for her babies that was apparently broken (we couldn't get it set up) so I had to run back to the store to exchange it. It works great now and she loves it!


And Saturday we had a party at Grandma Postma's house with brownies and ice cream


And of course more presents


I'm not sure she ever put her dolls down while trying to open presents. She's a little obsessed with them these days.


We did get lots of oohs and aahs from her!

Birthdays for Emma and Bert

So four years ago Bert's 30th birthday present was Emma. After 36 hours of labor she barely made it for his birthday at 11:30 pm on July 2nd.

While in Spokane we celebrated both with a big party thrown by his mom.

Emma had a pink dinosaur cake that she was just thrilled about.



And Bert had German Chocolate complete with 34 candles! Thanks for the party Mom and Dad we had lots of fun!

Washington

Summer is more or less over at our house. Bert is back at school, I was working close to full time this summer and now I'm back at home. So time to catch up on some posts.

I spent all of May and June miserable with morning sickness. It's finally gone, but I can't say we did much those couple of months!

July we spent the first two weeks in Washington. The drive up was pretty uneventful and the kids did great!

Until we got to the pass...


... and we discovered that Kaylie gets carsick. Luckily we were only 30 minutes from Spokane and just drove the rest of the way with the windows open. We weren't so lucky coming home. She thew up twice and had two diaper blowouts. I think between that and potty breaks we stopped every two hours! Emma's comment when we stopped in Pocatello for some food: "Mommy, going home takes a long time!"

While in Spokane we left the kids with grandma, grandpa, lots of aunts and uncles and Bert and I spent a weekend in Seattle. Kind of a belated 5th anniversary trip. We had tons of fun! Stayed in a beautiful hotel in Bellevue, right near the temple. Spent some time on the waterfront and attended my cousin's wedding. It was a much needed, wonderful vacation for the two of us! I was still dealing with morning sickness, so not a lot of pictures.

What We've Been Up To...

Not much really. I finally got my camera out today and realized I had a few pictures I hadn't uploaded so here they are.

And Emma at swim lessons this past month. I was amazed at how much she learned and how much fun she had! Our community pool has a great leisure pool that goes from 1 inch to 4 feet deep so the little kids could stand in the water and follow the teacher's instructions. They learned to put their faces in the water, go under water and pick up things off the bottom, float on their back (with help) and "swim" on their front (with more help).

They had parents sitting pretty far away so the pictures aren't the best quality. That's her on the left in front of her teacher.

And practicing with the teacher. She really thinks she can swim now!

Flipper Hands Part II

We are apparently destined to have kids who dramatically injure their hands. Emma burned her hands just shy of 18 months. Now Kaylie, also just shy of 18 months decided to attempt something similar and got her own flipper hand.

We no longer have a fireplace, but we do have a paper shredder. It sounds and looks worse than it was. She did get her hand jammed in it while hanging on to a paper that was getting sucked down into the shredder. But it only caught two of her fingers which now have a 1/4-1/2 inch gash in them. Not deep enough for stitches but big enough to keep bandaged for a few days. And since toddlers don't keep band-aids on well, the doctor wrapped the whole hand.


But it did hurt enough that she has not put down her little pink snugly for a few days. :( The shredder now stay unplugged when not in use.

Bedtime Stories and Dress-up

Kaylie crawled into Emma's bed today and Emma decided to read her a bedtime story. She has Goodnight Moon memorized so she got it down, read the whole book, tucked Kaylie in, and closed the door. I had to talk her into going back in to play with her.

Emma's newest love is dress-up. She has a number of princess costumes...

..and will also attempt to dress herself in whatever she thinks matches. Here we are with stripes, flowers, leggings, and you can't see them well, but there are a total of three hair accessories. The one common theme was pink or purple.

Girls' Trip

On MLK weekend Bert was wonderful enough to watch the kids while I flew to...

Seattle. And had a marvelous time. My friend Michelle and her family lives just outside of the city. Her husband was also wonderful and watched their son while we had a girls' day.

We walked Pike Place Market, had a conversation with a stranger about European cars (this trip was all about talking to strangers), and thought about getting hot chocolate at Starbucks until we saw the line. So we went next door to Seattle's Best Coffee. We hiked down Alaskan Way along the docks and ate some good fish and chips (but not at Iver's if you were wondering). We saw Ye Olde Curiosity Shop, it's collection of shrunken heads, and met Bernard (another stranger). We took the ferry to Bainbridge Island, and had a random lady in the bathroom yell at Michelle for calling me fat (which if you've seen me you'd know that Michelle either needs glasses or was being completely sarcastic).

Sunday we did church and gorged ourselves on homemade doughnuts, Michelle's spaghetti, and lots of brownies and ice cream. Monday we went for a walk in Federal Way en route to the airport. It looks deceptively sunny and warm. We were freezing.


Thank you Michelle for showing me a great time. I think girls' trip is now going to be an annual event.
