Sisters

Here is Emma's 3 month portrait and Kaylie's 4 month, can you tell who's who?. (Yes I managed to put them in the same thing, can I help it if Kaylie got all of Emma's hand-me-downs and I thought this outfit was cute?)

Christmas

Here are a few pictures from Christmas morning.

Storytime

Tonight I started to read Emma a couple of bedtime stories when she stopped me with "Hey! Don't talk!" She then proceeded to read to me The Very Hungry Caterpillar which she has apparently memorized.

My favorite thing I have heard Emma say was when I was hanging some pictures in her room. She came running in yelling, "Don't hit my room!"

What made me laugh really hard was listening to Bert yell at her to get her head out of the toilet. I don't think it was really all the way in, she was just looking.

And I think Emma is brainwashing me to change Kaylie's name. She can't say "L" yet so it comes out Kaywie. Which kinda sounds like Karrie and I have on occasion managed to call her that.

We're here to stay!

In the 3 1/2 years we've been married we've had 4 homes, 5 depending how you count them.

-2 months right after we got married in my apartment waiting for his roommates to move out of his condo

-7 months in Bert's condo

-1 year two months house sitting for my mom while she was on a mission

-1 year seven months living in Mom's basement after she got home so I could stay home with Emma and Bert could finish school

And finally we have our own place again and we are not leaving for 5 years!

I'm a terrible photographer but here are a couple shots of our living room, not big, but comfortable.

Dining

For a small kitchen there is a surprising amount of cabinet space

Big master suite. The picture doesn't do it justice

Bad picture of Emma's room. It's in sorry need of some decorating.

And Kaylie's room

In a couple weeks we start painting and the place will really look like home!

Changes for Emma

We moved last weekend (pictures of the new place to follow... eventually, previews below). Now I get to break Emma of all the bad habits I let her pick up while I was busy packing and cleaning for the last few weeks. One of which is a lot of TV and movies which kept her out of my hair. The new favorite is Finding Nemo, I hear her quoting from it on occasion.

One good thing in her life this week. A big girl bed! With the move to the new place Kaylie is finally out of my room and into the crib. Emma got bumped to a bed which she loves. She has actually asked to go to bed at night! I snuck in a couple days ago and took this picture during her nap. I think she had wandered around for a little while before laying down to go to sleep, but at least she slept!

Halloween

Halloween was a little chaotic this year. We spent all day moving to our new house and rushed back to Grandma's that night to take Emma trick-or-treating. Here's Bert with the kids.

Emma loved saying "twick-or-tweet" and getting candy in return.

And she loved being a bumble bee

Pumpkin Patch

Last week Emma's playgroup went to the pumpkin patch. Emma was so obsessed with "driving" the tractors that she had no interest in playing with the other kids and even missed the real tractor ride! She insisted on sitting on every single one of the 12 or so tractors they had sitting out. I got some pictures of just a few.

Who's in charge?

Emma thinks she is in charge. A couple of weeks ago she was having a particularly bad day which had resulted in several time outs. That night she was so fed up with me while I was changing her that she started yelling, "No touch, no touch! 1, 2, 3 Time Out! Time out!" Perhaps annoyed that I didn't go to time out, the next day she tried to put Kaylie in time out for kicking.

Yesterday we were at a doctor's appointment. As he looked in Kaylie's ears, Emma looks at the doctor and yells, "no touch ears! No touch ears!" She's gotten a little protective of her little sister. She'll also defend her (and me) from the kids at play group.

And what made me laugh today was the declaration from Emma, "Mommy, I can't fly." This after watching Dinosaur Train where the kid dinos were discussing who could and couldn't fly.

Whose kids are these?

I am not sure I can claim these two Ute fans as my own. They are definitely Bert's and I guess I'll be sitting by myself during the BYU vs. Utah game. Believe it or not Grandpa and Grandma Adamson bought these for them!

Kaylie had her two month check up yesterday. All is well and she is in the 75th percentile for height and I think the 40th or so for weight, (sounds like her mom). She's smiling and playing and she actually slept for 7 hours the other night, I am feeling like a normal person again!

Kaylie's Baby Blessing

Kaylie was blessed yesterday by her father. Grandpa Adamson, Great Uncle Robbie, Uncle Joe, Uncle Andy, and our good friend Darrell also participated. The blessing Bert gave her was beautiful and we had a great time with family afterward (thanks grandpa and grandma for coming down from Spokane for it!).

And here is our first family picture.

Emma with Kaylie. I was having a hard time getting Emma to sit still enough so most of the pictures are blurry

And here are two pictures of all the women (in my direct line) who have worn that blessing dress. My great-grandmother made it for my great aunt about 100 years ago. Great-aunt Helen wore it, my grandmother, my mother, my aunt, myself, my sister, a cousin, and my two daughters.

Sisters at 6 weeks

I finally got a picture of the two girls. Emma loves her baby sister and loves to help with diaper changes, getting dressed and shoving binkies in her mouth. Emma hasn't been too excited about how much Kaylie wants to be held however and has gotten a little clingy.

Kaylie Ann Adamson

Here she is! Born Aug 8, 2009 at 5:02 pm, 7 lbs. 8 oz, 18 inches. We're home now and Emma is obsessed with stuffing binkies in her new sister's face. I have yet to get a picture of the two of them together.

Emma's zoo

Emma has a zoo in her crib. When I put her down to go to sleep she asks for several things. A baby, a moose, a cow, a bear, a dog and her blanket. Last night she wanted two blankets. It's getting a little crowded in there. I'll have to remember to take a picture and post it. The upside is when she wakes up in the morning she'll sit and chat with them for a while so I can sleep for an extra hour or so. The downside is she'll sometimes chat instead of going to sleep. But at least she is not crying.

Birthdays!

It's about time I get around to posting something about Emma and Bert's birthdays on the 2nd. We had a small party that night with some friends and family, barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs and had cake and ice cream. Of course I didn't bother to get my camera out until the very end, so no pictures of Emma blowing out her candles. Just some of her playing with some new toys. She was obsessed with the play cleaning kit grandma got her.

She thought the scrub brush made a good hairbrush, then she thought it was a toothbrush.

Double Rainbow

Friday night as a storm was passing through we saw the most amazing sight. Someone in the neighborhood sent us a picture and I thought I'd post it. The picture doesn't quite do it justice, the rainbow was quite bright and you could see the second one quite clearly. The steeple on the right is the Oquirrh Mountain Temple which is being built in our neighborhood and will be dedicated next month.

Movie Star

I bought Emma some new sunglasses and a hat yesterday and she won't take them off!

Emma-isms

Emma is probably learning a word a day and cracks me up with the stuff she says.

On Sunday the nursery worker brought her to me for a diaper change. As he handed her to me she proudly declared to everyone within earshot "I poop!"

This morning after daddy sneezes she starts repeating over and over, "bless you! bless you! bless you!"

She can't say her m's yet, so milk is "gilk" and instead of calling me mommy when she is looking for me I hear her calling "liz! liz! liz!"

A couple of weeks ago we're watching a reading/spelling program on PBS. The word FOG pops up and Emma looks at it and says "F - O - G" I could not believe it. Do kids really learn letters this young? I thought it might have been a fluke, but on Sunday I was writing letters to see if she knew them and sure enough, she started naming them! Not all of them were right, but enough to amaze me. She also counts, not necessarily in order but if I start with 'one' she goes to "two, thwee, six, seven, nine..."

Graduation!

So first of all, not only did Bert graduate (cum laude!) from the University of Utah today, but he accepted a job offer yesterday to teach chemistry at American Fork High School! So I guess we are staying in Utah for the next little while. We're relieved to have a job lined up so quickly!

Here are some photos from today:

Emma and my mom waiting for commencement to start.

All the University graduates coming in.

Emma and Aunt Kimi waiting to get lunch at Market Street Grill (yummy!)

She was so good during the whole morning, but we had to break out the stickers at lunch to keep her entertained.

Grandma took Emma home for a nap and off we went to the college convocation.

A terrible picture of Bert getting his diploma, I could not get the camera focused fast enough!
