Christmas

Not many pictures from Christmas morning. We had our traditional breakfast of fried scones and opened presents, not in that order!

Daddy is quite excited that Mom actually bought him a video game.

The girls were in love with their new movies

Christmas Eve

It was just us on Christmas Eve. We had planned to pick up some Chinese for dinner, but the snowstorm kept us in.

But the kids got their new pajamas.

And Daddy read The Night Before Christmas, oh wait, it was Grandpa Adamson. He sent the best gift ever. It's Adamson family tradition to read the story on Christmas Eve. Grandpa and Grandma found a copy of the book that let them record Grandpa's voice reading it to his grandkids. The girls were thrilled to hear Grandpa reading to them!

Jacob's attention span was a little too short

Happenings

A couple of pictures I found on my camera from before the holidays.

This girl loves to help!

I now keep the pantry closed with a childproof handle.

Happy 10 Months!

Jacob is 10 months old today and loving his little man suit!

He's a happy boy! Now that he is crawling church is quite the wrestling match. This kid does not like to stay still.

Chess Anyone?

Emma was home from school a couple days with the stomach flu and got creative on how to spend her time.

This dog is her favorite companion. Emma prays every night that she'll get a real dog for her birthday.

Halloween

We had a great Halloween and spent the evening with friends. Although I may have waited to long to take pictures, this one was about an hour after Jacob's bedtime, he wasn't thrilled. Emma is Sleeping Beauty and Kaylie is Tinkerbell. Not sure how Dora got there.

Here's a better picture of our little Superman

And not a great one of me talking at the camera, but the only one all the kids were sitting in one place.

See?

Dinner Time Photo Shoot

My baby at 9 months, loves his spaghetti! With the mess he was making I had to get my camera out.

And get a picture of his great smile.

And the girls wanted their picture taken as well. Emma posing for her shot.

And Kaylie's usual cheesy grin. On another note, she is finally potty trained! Hence the lack of clothing, what finally worked was letting her run around naked. Funny kid.

2nd Best Mission

Bert's youngest brother Justin started his mission for the LDS church today as the 6th missionary from their family (Bert was number 2). What is most exciting is that Justin will be serving in the 2nd best mission, Ecuador Guayaquil South. The best of course is where I served my mission, Guayaquil North.

On the way from the airport to the MTC this morning he dropped by our house to say goodbye and to look at some pictures of Ecuador one more time. Here's Uncle Justin with baby Jacob. Hard to think when they see each other again Jacob will be a toddler, walking and talking!

Good luck Elder Adamson! We'll be praying for you and the Ecuadorian people are lucky to have you!

Kaylie Starts Preschool

A week after Emma started kindergarten Kaylie started preschool, and she absolutely loves it. She was so sad Emma started school and she didn't get to go with her that first week and very excited that she got to go to her very own school the following week. It's only twice a week and every day as we walk home from dropping Emma off at school she asks if she can go to "Kaylie's school" as she calls it.

Kaylie is funny when she first meets people. They usually get a growl or just ingnored for a few minutes until she decides they are okay. As excited as she is about school that's what her teacher gets everyday when I drop her off. Kaylie puts her head down and ignores Miss Jill for a few minutes, then after more kids show up she looks up and says while waving, "Bye Mom! Go to the car! Hi Teacher!" And everyday when I pick her up I hear, "Mom! I had a good day!" Funny little girl.

Opening Game

Today is the opening football game for BYU. I didn't even have to tell Emma, this is what she put on all by herself this morning. I'm a proud mama. Jacob apparently takes after his dad...

1st Day of Kindergarten!

Emma started kindergarten today, she was so excited! And Kaylie insisted on posing for the picture as well with her own backpack.

I'm excited we live close enough to walk. I'm finally being forced to get some exercise! It was way hot though, even at 9 am.

Gotta love Emma's camera smile. After I left Emma on the playground and got back to the kids in the stroller, Kaylie was crying her eyes out, either because we were leaving Emma or because she couldn't go with her, or both.

Lining up with her class, you can sort of see her in the middle of the line (look for the green skirt). Her teacher is Miss Johnson, we met her last week for Emma's pre-assessment. Emma warmed right up to her, answered all her questions, and had fun chatting with her.

 One more funny smile

And then off to class!

Jacob 7 Months

Here is my little buddy at 7 months old. He's eating solids (hates peas, loves sweet potatoes), doing the army crawl, and just being cute.

And helping mom with laundry!

Kaylie's 3rd Birthday

Somebody had a birthday! We celebrated the day before by visiting the local aquarium. The kids loved the fish, sharks, penquins, and Emma even got to see a tarantula. A huge bird-eating one, mom got grossed out.

Side note: I recently tried to cut Kaylie's hair. Didn't turn out so well. :( Although I have to admit I was so busy trying to get cake and food ready, I don't think I ever attempted to brush or style it that day, so her pictures feature some really wild hair!

The next day we had a small family party Grandma and Grandpa Adamson, Aunt Becky and Grandma Postma were all there.

And brought her a Tinkerbell costume that she immediately put on.

And a new Jessie doll that she has yet to put down. Love the fake smile!

And the cake, I think I may have set some high expectations after making Emma a dragon cake last month. This photo is right before she stuck her finger right in the candle flame. Didn't even bat an eye.

Jacob's first bites

This little guy will be 6 months in 3 days.

So we gave him some rice cereal a couple of weeks ago.

He was not so thrilled about it!

But he got it down. After some more practice he's starting to get the hang of it. :)

Emma's 5th Birthday (and Bert's 35th)

The birthday duo. Yes, I do have one creative bone in my body thanks to my high school job where I decorated cakes. Emma decided on a yellow dragon cake, she was quite specific.

On their actual birthday on Monday we took the family to the zoo. No pictures there, forgetting my camera is pretty normal for me. The kids had fun, the favorite was the polar bear swimming in his tank. I never knew they were so acrobatic! He (she?) swam right up to Kaylie who had her nose up against the glass, he seemed to enjoy performing for the crowd.

Wednesday the 4th we celebrated the holiday and birthdays with presents and cake at Grandma's house. Emma got a set of Sleeping Beauty figurines, her favorite princess.

She also got a set of Tangled, and was generous enough to share with Kaylie (Rapunzel is Kaylie's favorite).

After a yummy dinner of barbecued ribs and corn on the cob we had some cake.

Blowing out the candles. Yes there are 6 instead of 5, that's what I get for letting Emma put them on!

Bert's idea to make red velvet cake made cutting into it a little more exciting. Sure made frosting it a little challenging. We decided he just had a rash, like that dragon from Disney's Sword in the Stone.
