Growing up

So I am working on publishing the last 2 1/2 years of my blog into a book that we can keep and show our kids when they grow up. As I was looking through my posts it is basically 2 1/2 years of photos of Emma growing up. A lot of them. And I realized that I don't have hardly any pictures of Kaylie. And I thought about an episode from Malcolm in the Middle where Dewey (the youngest) wants to look at his baby book. After finding the stack of family photo albums he's a little peeved at his parents. Basically the oldest kid had this wonderfully huge book full of memories and by the time they got to Dewey his book had maybe a couple of pages.

So, in an effort to avoid having that happen here are a few recent photos of Kaylie's newest feats at 5 1/2 months.

Starting Solids

After 3 or so weeks she's still trying to figure it out.

She still thinks that in order to swallow the food down, sucking on something must be involved. We're pretty messy.

But for the most part she just has fun.

Rolling over

We've spent the last 2 weeks or so listening to her complain every time she rolls onto her belly and gets stuck there. As of this week she figured out how to get back onto her back and can roll across the room. So now she just cries when she hits her head on the furniture.

Doing her superman's. I wish my back were that strong, she's always doing this!

Sisters

Here is Emma's 3 month portrait and Kaylie's 4 month, can you tell who's who?. (Yes I managed to put them in the same thing, can I help it if Kaylie got all of Emma's hand-me-downs and I thought this outfit was cute?)

Christmas

Here are a few pictures from Christmas morning.

Bert wearing his favorite present

Kaylie and her new clothes

The purse from Aunt Sarah was a huge hit

She talked on her new phone almost the whole day

And would not put down her lipstick

Storytime

Tonight I started to read Emma a couple of bedtime stories when she stopped me with "Hey! Don't talk!" She then proceeded to read to me The Very Hungry Caterpillar which she has apparently memorized.

My favorite thing I have heard Emma say was when I was hanging some pictures in her room. She came running in yelling, "Don't hit my room!"

What made me laugh really hard was listening to Bert yell at her to get her head out of the toilet. I don't think it was really all the way in, she was just looking.

And I think Emma is brainwashing me to change Kaylie's name. She can't say "L" yet so it comes out Kaywie. Which kinda sounds like Karrie and I have on occasion managed to call her that.
