Jacob's first bites

This little guy will be 6 months in 3 days.

So we gave him some rice cereal a couple of weeks ago.

He was not so thrilled about it!

But he got it down. After some more practice he's starting to get the hang of it. :)

Emma's 5th Birthday (and Bert's 35th)

The birthday duo. Yes, I do have one creative bone in my body thanks to my high school job where I decorated cakes. Emma decided on a yellow dragon cake, she was quite specific.

On their actual birthday on Monday we took the family to the zoo. No pictures there, forgetting my camera is pretty normal for me. The kids had fun, the favorite was the polar bear swimming in his tank. I never knew they were so acrobatic! He (she?) swam right up to Kaylie who had her nose up against the glass, he seemed to enjoy performing for the crowd.

Wednesday the 4th we celebrated the holiday and birthdays with presents and cake at Grandma's house. Emma got a set of Sleeping Beauty figurines, her favorite princess.

She also got a set of Tangled, and was generous enough to share with Kaylie (Rapunzel is Kaylie's favorite).

After a yummy dinner of barbecued ribs and corn on the cob we had some cake.

Blowing out the candles. Yes there are 6 instead of 5, that's what I get for letting Emma put them on!

Bert's idea to make red velvet cake made cutting into it a little more exciting. Sure made frosting it a little challenging. We decided he just had a rash, like that dragon from Disney's Sword in the Stone.

Emma

Emma's preschool picture. She loved school this year and can't wait to start kindergarten in the fall. Bert and I are constantly amazed at the amount of information she picks up on her own. On a walk a few weeks ago she turned to Bert and said, "I'm afraid of pollinators!" I also get lectures on keeping the earth clean. (She's her mommy's little girl.)

So tomorrow we're off to the zoo to celebrate her 5th birthday! Love you Emma!

June

A few pictures from June.

We got out for a family hike up American Fork canyon. The girls loved being in "the wilderness" as Emma calls it. They were particularly fascinated by bugs for some reason.

Jacob was actually a little fussy without a toy to play with and a hat in is face.

At the end of our .75 mile hike. Doesn't take much to tire them out.

And a snapshot of our bedtime routine, Daddy get the privilege of bedtime stories. Jacob doesn't usually join, he's a bit of a distraction. :)

Random

Jacob at about 4 1/2 months

He has been such an easy and happy baby. I think you have to when you are number three.

His sisters absolutely adore him, and he is very patient with all their hugs and kisses.
